Charlye- blackberries

Today we had the pleasure of taking the kids and going to a wonderful local blackberry farm called Fruit of The Spirit Orchard and Vineyard. Jeremy had won a free gallon of Blackberries for being their 200th fan on Facebook , and we had been trying to get out there the last couple of weeks. Everything lined up for us to go today so we jumped at the chance. I am so glad we did!

What a great experience it was for us as a family. We strolled along the aisle of blackberry bushes and picked our special treats. The owners are some the nicest people I have ever met. They were busy that day but still took time to stop and talk to us. We were shown how to twist and pull the blackberries off the vines. Charlye was very happy to fill her bucket up and it was very sweet to hear –“Twist and pull” come out of her little mouth over and over and over again. She is a very serious blackberry picker! The older kids had fun picking and talking to each other as they worked their way down the aisles.

So many times in life we take the easy and fastest way. But today we took the time to slow down and enjoy our kids, and the great thing was we not only made some memories but we got some fantastic tasting blackberries too!

I am not kidding you when I say these are the biggest blackberries I have ever seen!
