Kinder Publishing Review - beautiful books that your whole family will enjoy!

I was given the opportunity to do a review for two books – How Peter Rabbit Went to Sea and Peter Rabbit’s Birthday  from Kinder Cottage Publishing . Both hardback books retail for only $4.00.  That is an amazing price for such beautiful books. I really expected them to cost more. They are filled with beautiful illustrations that make you just want to stop and look at them for awhile. When these arrived in the mail my plan was to just put them up for a week or so and then pull them out for a read aloud. That didnt happen. Both kids saw them and were drawn to them. I was really thankful there were two books and not just one!I will remember this in the future when I order more! Of course I let them go ahead and look at them! My son (8) is a pretty good reader so he read to himself but my daughter is 3 and not reading yet. She happily looked at the pictures for a few minutes before asking me to read it to her. The age range on both of these books is ages 3-9. I think if you had an older reluctant reader they would enjoy these stories too. A neat fact about these books is they were originally written by Duff Graham for the Henry Altemus company over 90 yrs ago! Some of the working has been slightly modernized for today’s children ( example- the original text called a bicycle a velocipede.)

How Peter Rabbit Went to Sea is a super cute story about Peter Rabbit.  His mother goes away for the day and instead of doing what he is supposed to do and play in certain areas he decides he wants to play pirate. His mother told him not to play in the brooke but his desire to play pirate overrides his judgement. He of course has to build a boat to be a pirate. He then takes it to the brooke and ends up out in the big blue sea. He encounters many sea creatures and one of them actually helps him get home, but not becasue they are a sweet creature! I won’t ruin the story  for you or your children, so Ill let you read it for the whole story!

Peter Rabbit’s Birthday is another adorable story all about Peter Rabbits birthday. His mother sends him out to invite his friends to his party and you get to follow along with him as he encounters his friends and creatures along the way. At one point it even looked like he may miss his birthday party but a old friend saves the day!

The stories are short and easy to read. They flow very nicely and are really great for read alouds. But what pulls you in the most are the beautiful illustrations.

I loved that the illustrations did not tell you the whole story but they drew you into it!  This is really great for readers who sometimes just like to look at the pictures and not read the whole story.

Both of my kids really enjoyed looking through and reading these stories!
