How to make colored rice!
Colored rice is a fun and cheap filler to go in sensory bins. It offers a fun tactile experience for kids and is super easy to make, I use it it in most of my sensory bins I do. I hope once you see how easy it is to make then you will make some up for your child today!
How to make colored rice!
Supplies you will need-
Uncooked rice (any amount will do. It just depends on how much you want to make)
Rubbing alcohol
food coloring
large ziploc bags (I use gallon)
A large cookie sheet
Directions-
Pour however much you want into the ziploc bags. You will need a separate bag for each color you want to make.
Add 1 tablespoon of rubbing alcohol to each of the bags. Next add some food coloring (of whatever color you want for that bag). The more you add the darker and brighter the color.
Next zip or seal up the ziploc bags. You can gently shake the bags and they will get mixed up pretty well.
Next pour them out on a pan and let the rice dry for a couple of hours. I let mine dry outside in the sun.

Now the fun part! Time to play!! Add the colored rice into your sensory bin and let your child play!
I hope you will go ahead and make up some colored rice for your little one and let the fun begin!
