MINECRAFT!

I get asked about Minecraft all the time so I thought I would put all my resources in one place so it would be easier to share them. I also wanted to share my favorite Minecraft resource with you! It allows my son to play in a safe online community and it has in his words-  changed his life for the better! He is a little dramatic but it is great!

How I found out about Minecraft-

We came upon Minecraft one day after I read an article about how to use Minecraft in your homeschooling. It sounded interesting to me and when I asked the kids they got really excited about it. I looked into it more and decided to go ahead and let them try it out. There was a pocket edition I could get on their kindles that was only a few dollars so we started with that. We later bought Minecraft on the computer for my sons birthday present. You would have thought he won the lottery when we did – he was that excited!

What is Minecraft?–

I started to type out everything I knew about Minecraft. I soon figured out that was not a lot. All I could really come up with was it was like having unlimited online legos. Lucky for me I have my in house Minecraft experts to ask. I let them do a video to tell you about it.

MY FAVORITE MINECRAFT RESOURCE!! 

First let me tell you that I am a huge stickler for safety on the internet. I realize to some I come off  to some as overprotective. Frankly I dont care. These are my kids and I will protect them to the best of my ability. When my son asked me if he could start going on other worlds and interacting with people I flat out said no. He was always trying to get me to call his friends and see if they would get on and play with him. He told me he just really wanted to get on and play with a bunch of kids. We talked about internet safety and I tried to explain why I was not willing to let him do that. He understood of course but was still sad about it.  I thought that was the end of that. Nope- God sent me an answer to a pray for him!

When You Rise up has come up with a perfect solution to what my son wanted to do. They created a kid safe, family friendly Minecraft environment. When I saw this on a FB page I thought it was way to good to be true! Oh and it is FREE! Yes you saw that right- FREE.  Go ahead and head on over and read about all the fun features they have. You have to sign up and get white listed which is one of the ways they keep things safe for kids. I cannot tell you enough how much I appreciate this site. Any time I have had problems figuring out how to get on the site or anything else the owner has been so awesome and patient with me. She takes the time to walk me through my problem step by step. My son loves playing with other kids and I love that he can play on his favorite game in an safe environment. Bonus- they have some great resources in the site to help you pull Minecraft into your homeschooling! Want another bonus- They can help you get your child to do their chores. I am not kidding.
