Pineapple and Mint Infused Water

One of my goals this month is to drink more water. It’s something I have really struggled with as a busy mom. What I don’t have a problem drinking is things like soft drinks or sugary teas…. (just being honest!) I looked into infused water because I thought if it tasted good then I would be more likely to drink it. The more I drink, the closer I get to building a healthy habit that I’m currently missing in my life.

I had seen this idea floating around on Facebook about the Pineapple and Mint infused water. The recipes I saw were okay but I wanted to get more water out of it then the amounts I had seen. Plus I wasn’t trying to do any kind of detoxing or anything like that. I just wanted to learn to like to drink more water. So, as usual, I just decided to come up with my own.

I wanted to share this super easy recipe for Pineapple and Mint Infused water in case there was anyone else like me that just needed some ideas to perk their water up.  When I say its easy, I mean really easy. The hardest part is waiting until the next day to drink it.

*side note on this pineapple and mint infused water recipe- using a fresh pineapple will give you the best flavor by far but I have used frozen pineapple and it was still really good (and better for my budget). You can play around with the amounts you use of the pineapple and mint to find what you really like. Some people like a stronger flavor and some just like a hint of flavor. The more you use and the longer you let it set, the stronger the flavor.

Something else I have found, typically one or more of my local friends have some mint growing in a container in their yard during the spring and summer. If you don’t have fresh mint for this infused water recipe ask around. Chances are your friend might have some they can give you.

Pineapple and Mint Infused Water

Ingredients:

1 medium pineapple (peeled, cored and chopped up in chunks)

6 fresh Mint leaves

2-3 Liters of water (more or less depending on the strength of the flavor you want)

A container to hold your water overnight

Directions:

Remember when I said it was easy? All you have to do is put the ingredients in the container and pour the water over the top of it. Put in in your fridge and let it sit overnight. In the morning your water is ready. I like to take the peppermint leaves out and then pour it in one of my big glasses. Typically when I pour it, one or two chunks of pineapple fall into my cup and float to the bottom.  I like to eat the chunks of pineapple as a treat for when I drink all my water. I like to drink mine within about 3-4 days.
