Science4Us.com Online Subscription Review

I had heard of Science4Us.com , so when I was asked to do a review for Science4Us.com online subscription I was very excited.  Science is something that I have been struggling with this year so this seemed like a wonderful opportunity for me.

I explored their website before accepting the review to make sure this would be a good fit for my family.  The age range on this product was for grades K-2, but children in grades 3-5 could use it as a review of earlier science material. That was my family in a nut shell.  Jayden was in grade 3 but there were a few concepts that we had not touched on that I really wanted to cover before our school year was over. Every topic I wanted to cover was on their website and was offered through the Science4Us.com online subscription!! If you would like to see what all they cover you can find it here.

Another thing I always look for before I take a review is whether it is cost effective for my budget. I don’t want to recommend a curriculum unless I find that it’s worth the price. We are all on budgets so I always keep that in mind. The price of the online subscription is only $7.95 per child, per month. I knew that was something I could easily fit into my budget if it was something that worked for my family. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they offer a 14 day money back guarantee, which is something I really appreciate before I make a final commitment.

Once I got my information, I logged in to take a peek around the site. I was pleased with the ease in which I could find what I needed. There are many helpful videos that show you how to use each feature of this website. The site was user friendly and made it easy to assign what I wanted Jayden to cover. I could assign the topic, set a due date if I wanted to, and keep track of how he was doing.

Anything you want to know about each topic is very clearly laid out. Your teacher login in page will give you a basic description of what you are going to be learning, the estimated session time, any pages you need to print for the lesson, including the vocabulary for each lesson. You can tell from the example below, it is all easy to understand.

The more I went through the site, the more I liked it. Science4Us.com states-

The mission of Science4Us is to provide a solid foundation of fundamental science concepts for students in their formative years, on which a deep understanding and interest in science can be built.

Reading this statement made me like this company even more. I believe that science should be easy to understand in the formative years. If you get that good base then the other more complicated parts of science will come easier. If it is hard and complicated then I think the student becomes easily frustrated. Frustration leads to a student learning that a subject is “too hard” or that they just are not good at that subject. As I sat with Jayden and watched him do his lessons I saw how Science4Us.com had done an excellent job in making all of their topics very clear and easy to understand.  After the first couple of lessons he was very capable of working independently. He would go to his dashboard everyday and could easily see what I had assigned for him to do that day. There was a certain part of the lesson where questions would come up on the screen. They were questions that really helped the student recall what he has just learned. He would always come and get me when he got to that point and we would discuss the answers.  I could really tell he was enjoying learning this way. At the end of a topic was a short quiz. Jayden actually enjoyed taking the quizzes. He said they were pretty fun and easy to do. I liked the length and the questions asked on the quizzes. They never really felt like quizzes just another fun part of the lesson. This was another great feature that I really appreciated.

The great part of this curriculum was that it was very engaging and entertaining without being to cartoony. My daughter (3) loved to sit next to Jayden and watch him do his science lessons for the day. She enjoyed it almost as much as he did. This was a really nice side effect and allowed me to actually get some dishes and laundry done! I of course could see them at the table just to make sure that they were staying on task.

Science4us.com review @Adventures in MinfulLiving

Science4Us.com online subscription is a really great science curriculum. I am looking forward to continuing to use it for the rest of our home school year.  I have already told several of my friends about it, and about how much we have been enjoying.  It was easy to use for both the student and the teacher. When my daughter starts to do kindergarten I will be purchasing the online subscription for her. My real only complaint was that I wish they would expand the topics and cover higher grades! Jayden will be through all the topics by the end of the school year so I won’t be able to use it for his 4th grade year. It made every topic very easy to understand and I could tell Jayden’s whole perception of science was changing because he was really enjoying working through the program. He even started getting an interest in space and planets again after he went through the Earth/Space assignments. When a curriculum can help spark an interest I really like it.

I would like to encourage you to go over to the Science4Us.com website and take a look around. They have plenty of samples for you to go through so you can really see how they present a topic. You can also catch up with them on their Facebook page, twitter account, Pinterest, and Google +.

Don’t just take my word for it though! Go check out what some of my fellow Homeschool Crew are saying about it too! Just click the picture below!
