I understand. Before I started my journey towards better health I struggled a lot with losing weight and getting healthier!  That is one of the reasons I started this website. I wanted to  help families get their journeys towards better health started. Over the years I have picked up some great tools to help people in all seasons of life get started feeling better, losing weight, and getting more energy.

I have lots of tools I use to help people during my private consultations but by far my favorite (and tastiest) is my smoothies!

That is why I share so many smoothie recipes with all of you and I even wrote a smoothie Ebook called Smoothie Love where I talk about how they helped me lose weight.

I get lots of questions from my readers on this topic so I thought I would answer some of them here to make it easier!

The first question that keeps coming up is  – So how can smoothies help you lose weight and start getting healthier?

I will tell you the short and skinny version ( for the longer detailed version with recipes check out my ebook).

It is actually pretty simple-

I switched not so healthy meals and snacks for healthy ones!

Instead of forgetting to eat breakfast (which is horrible for your metabolism) or eating foods that were loaded with fat (not the good kind), empty calories, cholesterol, and other really unhealthy ingredients- I had a smoothie. Same thing with snacks and dinners out or ones that I knew I would overeat.I simply had a smoothie and it filled me up.

But not just any smoothie!

One with power packed nutrition and full of fiber so it would help me over till lunch or the next meal. I needed it to give my body everything it needed becasue I found when I did that, I didn’t crave all the junk I normally did. There is a whole science behind it that I really enjoyed learning about, but I wont bore you with that.

So the next question always is- Ok so what did you put in your smoothies?

I have several recipes that I included in the ebook but they are pretty simple-

Different kinds of fruit

Different kind of power packed veggies ( love kale and spinach)

Oatmeal ( that is what kept me full- everyone needs more fiber)

Complete Mix (made sure I had everything I needed for the day- made it a complete meal and made it taste sooooo good)

Non dairy milk ( Almond is our favorite, we use non dairy becasue it is healthier, less calories, and no cholesterol)

I would take all of that and put it in my blender and simply blend away till it was nice and smooth!

This is the one I had this morning! It was really good!! I wanted to share it with you!

Purple Power-

1  1/2  cups almond milk

1/2 cup frozen blueberries

1/4 frozen mango

1/2 scoop Complete mix

1/4 cup uncooked oatmeal

1 tbsp chia seeds

small handful of kale

 I just threw it all in my Nutru-Bullet  and let it blend away. Just that easy and simple. I can drink it while I get my work done, while I fold clothes, while I drive to the grocery store or while I teach our middle child science.  I am busy mom and this jsut works for me. It gets me everything I need, tastes good, and is simple to do. Thats why I share it with all of you becasue I know you are all busy in your own way and are looking for different ways to start getting healthy so you can feel better, have more energy, and lose weight. This is also where Ill jump in and say this- you can’t drink a smoothie and then eat double cheeseburgers or a bunch of other junk and think that will do the trick. The smoothies are a  good start and they can help you eat less of that other stuff that isn’t so good for you, but you have to continue on the path of making healthy choices to see real long lasting results.  I would love to help you if you need a little extra help.   1. It sounds to me that you’ve found an excellent way to “right-size” your diet. (Right-sizing is what I call it when a person finds something that really works for them and fits their personality, their body type and their lifestyle.) As you say, it is much better than struggling with what others say you should be doing. Congratulations and keep it up!
