Easy Pizza Roll Ups!

pizzarollups1

I have seen tons of pizza roll ups all over pinterest and on most of my friends Facebook pages. They always look so good and so easy. The cheesiness tempts me to just try a little and I can almost smell the pepperoni cooking now. But here is the thing- those are loaded with cholesterol and lot of other things I try really hard to avoid for multiple reasons. I sat back the other day and thought- I bet I could make a version of these that my family could enjoy. After quick trip to the grocery store I had everything I needed  and these awesome easy pizza roll ups!

They are super easy to make and really good. I think I may make some smaller ones for the holidays this year to share with everyone. I would serve them with this dip becasue it is mouth wateringly good too! If you are looking for a vegan friendly/ dairy free or just healthier version of the typical pizza roll ups you see everywhere then you really need to give this recipe a try!

Now on to the directions-

First you need to make your pizza dough. You can use this recipe or find a premade dough that you feel comfortable using at the store. Roll your dough out flat like this. Make sure you do this on a floured surface so it doesn’t stick.

Next sprinkle whatever toppings you want to use over it. I used some vegan cheese and some vegan pepperoni that our local store carries. I am not a super huge fan of store bought vegan cheeses but I find if I bake with them they are decent. I have also used the recipe for Moxy Cheese and done the same thing so just use your favorite kind of “cheese”. If you are not a fan of any kind of  “cheese” then you can always puluse up some raw cashews and nutritional yeast. Just sprinkle that  the rolled out pizza dough and you will get a cheesy flavor. I have done all three ways and they are all good. Today I choose to take the easy route and use the  vegan cheese I found at the store.

Now just roll up into  a log shape.

Next slice the roll (just like you would if you were cutting a loaf of bread) into however big of pieces you want. I found using a really sharp knife helped.  Then place them in a well greased baking dish or pan.

I used homemade pizza dough so I let mine sit in a warm spot for another 25 minutes. It let them rise and get big and fluffy before I baked them. I baked mine in  preheated oven for about 18 minutes at 375 degrees. You may want to follow  the directions on the back of the package if you used one from the store. Just keep an eye out on them so they don’t burn.  This is what mine looked like when they came out of the oven.

Let them cool from a few  minutes and then rip them apart and enjoy! I dipped mine in some pizza sauce.

Just looking at them now makes me want to go and make some more!  I hope you give these easy pizza roll ups a try!

It is the little tweaks you can make in life that will add up to  bigger changes in your life ( like replacing the cheese and pepperoni in the typical recipe with an alternative that fits my families dietary choices better). I really encourage  you to look at your life and find some places you can make these changes.

  1. Great idea! Can’t wait to try them. My son has a dairy allergy so I’m always on the lookout for dairy free recipes. Is there a particular brand of Vegan cheese from the grocery store you prefer to use?
    Thanks for sharing!
