Come along  with me as I conquer the excuses and get ready for my first 5K!

It is Fitness Friday again and I am so excited to share with you what I have been doing this  week! You all know I have been struggling to find something to help motivate me to workout  or to even just really to keep going with any kind of exercise routine. You can check out my past posts here. Last week I bought a great Couch to 5K app and I found I really enjoyed  running. This is very amazing to  me becasue I never thought I would be a runner. I am not sure what I thought a runner should look like but I just knew it wasn’t me.  I am changing that limiting view and to celebrate it I thought I should pick a 5K to work towards.

There are so many really great 5Ks going on in the next couple of weeks. I looked through them using the Couch to 5K app .The one I bought has an awesome feature that lets you find  5K near you. When I saw the Farm 2 Table 5K ,I instantly knew it was the one!  The more I have learned about it the more I liked it. It helps to find a race that means something to you.I strongly encourage you to find a cause and run for it, it is fantastic motivation.

A little about the Farm to Table 5K race from their site

The Asheville Track Club presents the Farm 2 Table 5K – Farmers Market & Family Festival. This event aims to educate the community about of the benefits of combining healthy foods, sourced through local farmers, with fitness and fun. Located in Fletcher Community Park, the event will be an evening for runners as well as families. Come out, learn about local farmers markets, listen to live music, play at the festival and participate in a fitness event. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Asheville Track Club programs as well as FEAST (Fresh, Easy, Affordable, Sustainable, and Tasty) of Asheville whose mission it is to promote healthy eating choices and make them accessible to people of all income levels through hands on cooking classes that encourage and empower participants by teaching skills needed to make fresh, wholesome and tasty food.

I would love to see you there! If any of you know me personally you know I am really big on teaching people of all ages how to cook healthy and tasty food, throw in my dedication to buying local and you have everything this race is about!

Another really cool feature about the  Farm 2 Table 5K race-  Instead of that post race halved banana or bagel, every 5k runner will get $5 in “Farm2Table” Bucks that they can use at the food trucks or in the Farmers Market to refuel. 

I mean seriously!! That is pretty cool on some many different levels! What a great way to really put the money right back into what you are supporting!  I cant wait to try out some really good local fresh food!!

Even if you dont want to run, this is a great event to come out to! There are things for the whole family to do and eat! If you love fresh local food then this is the place for you! If you dont- then come on out and see what you are missing!

The next couple of weeks I will be taking you along with me as I get ready for this 5K! Even though I have never thought I would be a runner, and I always wanted to run a 5K! Funny, huh? Come along with me for the ups, the downs,and everything in the middle. Do you need some motivation to help reach your goals,follow me on my journey and get some! If I can do this and reach this goal- you can reach yours!  Yes we all have different goals. But reaching them consists of making goals and plans , and then just going for it! Come along with me as I conquer the excuses and I just go for it!

I will be covering not only the weeks up to the race but the race as well!  Next week Ill go over what I am doing to get ready besides just using my new app. You know Ill be using some of my smoothies to help me get ready to reach my goal!
