Easy Wrap Sandwiches! A healthier alternative to the typical sandwich!

I shared this wrap a couple of weeks ago in a post about Healthy lunch ideas for kids. I wanted to share it again becasue it really is an easy way to get a healthy lunch for not just kids but adults too!

First let’s cover how to make a healthier wrap sandwich. I like making wraps becasue they are easy to make and super easy to tweak to what you like or dont like.  For anyone looking to get away from typical sandwich bread they are a great option.

The first thing you need to do is pick a tortilla. If your kids  are used to the typical big white tortillas then use those to start out with. You can always switch to a whole wheat one once they are used to what you are putting in it. Slow and steady wins the race when it comes to kids.

Start by putting some hummus on your tortilla. We love this recipe. Use whatever one your family likes. If you have never made hummus before or tired it go ahead and give it a try! Its a great snack!! Now keep in mind this is one I did for myself so I put a good amount of hummus on mine. If just starting out put a much smaller amount.

Next load up with veggies! I like tomatoes, cucumbers, and lettuce in mine. You know what your child likes so use a larger amount of what they like and a smaller amount of what you know they won’t be to crazy over. Colored peppers sliced thinly seem to go over really well with kids becasue they are sweet.Plus they add a nice colorful ( and nutrient packed) punch to a wrap. Just try new things and see what works and what doesn’t. I also like to put some of this ranch dressing on my wraps, so if you have a ranch lover in your house do that!  This is what mine looks like when it all packed and wrapped up!

So what if you or your child is not a huge veggie fan? I used to not be a huge fan of veggies and neither was my child. At one point I had one who would have looked at me like I was insane if I would have handed him one of these. I am just being honest with you. ( That is also why we started on Juice Plus Gummies). That is why I want to go over how to make a fruit wrap for those kids who prefer fruit over veggies!

It is the same principle with a  fruit wrap. Instead of hummus you use peanut butter (or other nut butter of choice) or even yogurt. Next pile on the fruit!! Sliced apples are great, so are bananas, and strawberries. Then just wrap up and enjoy!
